HOW IT WORKS

THREE STEPS TO YOUR FIRST ROW

  1. 1

    Fill out the membership form

Takes five minutes — contact info, rowing history, and the US Rowing waiver.

  2. 2

    Pass the swim requirement

Attest to a 100-yard swim and 10-minute tread, or plan to wear a PFD on the water.

  3. 3

    Show up at the dock

Your first row is with a coach. We'll match you to a boat and a lineup from day one.

BEFORE YOU JOIN

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes — you must be able to swim 100 yards and tread water for 10 minutes, or wear a PFD on the water. We take a signed swim-test attestation at registration.

What should I wear?

Snug athletic clothes (loose shorts catch in the seat tracks), socks you don't mind getting wet, sunglasses, and a hat. Dress in layers — mornings on the river run 10° cooler than town.

How fit do I need to be?

If you can walk a couple of miles, you can start rowing. The stroke is low-impact and scalable — we have members from 20 to 78 years old.

When are practices?

Summer open rows are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 5:30 AM, plus a Wednesday evening row at 6 PM. Fall shifts to weekends as daylight shortens.
